I started collecting insects, felt bad, and decided to paint them instead.
I love the lessons that bugs teach us that sometimes life depends on the small thing we take for granted.
Borrowing elements from both traditional batik and watercolor, I have layered alternating applications of melted wax (used as a resist)
and watercolor pigment over drawings made by hand on fine rice paper.
Balance of chaos and control with the use of texture bold strokes rich color and use of dental tools.
Different emotion while I experiment with style makes my painting a process rather than a product.
Oil on canvas – I paint primarily landscapes. As a studio painter I have the freedom to create compositions with palettes not found in nature.
Impasto brushwork, minimalist composition.
Palette knife applied impressions, layering in the micromanagement of paint creating complex minimalism in the abstraction of pain
which includes variations of aquatic art including sailboat art.

JEFF HAMACHEK - in memoriam
Oil on fine canvas with a contemporary but still impressionistic style. The use of color is transitional
as images evolve with light until the desired result come to life on canvas.
I express my art in the acrylics and watercolor on canvas, wood, tile, and burlap.
My inspirations are drawn from my deep love of Texas’ rustic and grandeur presence, to the satirical and whimsical.
My oil paintings are big, bold, vibrant, colorful, chunky, and 3 dimensional on canvas. 80% palette knife work, 20% brush work.
They are happy and fun and generally have true to life form and lines.
I create my work through the technique of breaking down every day subject matter into shapes and color.
This simplification breathes new life into my work in a bold and colorful way!

He paints on canvas leveraging oil medium paints and uses top grade material which is evident in his final product.
The majority of my current work is done by mixing acrylic paint for pouring, which I then pour using various techniques and
create additional detail by hand using various tools.
I use a oil and acrylic paint on canvas. My technique is unique in the way that I paint –
using 1”x6” wood platform and a small roller vs a traditional paint brush.
